Frequently Asked Questions about QualiSperm™

1. How much education do I need before I can use the system?

Our solution has been developed in close cooperation with important customers in the human and animal market. The main objective when developing the QualiSperm system was to create a system based on true intuitive handling and easy of use. When a system is complicated and a lot of education is needed to operate it, the end user will easily lose interest and return to manual analysis. With our system the situation is different. Many of our customers have implemented the system and were in full production after a half day of learning. In case you would like to verify this with one of our customers, feel free to contact us and we will provide you with a list of satisfied customers in your area, who are willing to be contacted and tell their experiences with our system to you. For privacy reasons we refrain from publishing a list of customers as we understand that our customers are fully occupied to do their job and don’t like to be disturbed unannounced.

3. What is the advantage compared to manual analysis?

The advantage of the QualiSperm solution compared to any manual analysis is the accuracy of the measurement. There is hardly any human being who is able to measure and analyze sperms in a reproducible and accurate way compared to the QualiSperm solution. This statement is specifically true when it comes to motility measurements and has been confirmed by many of our users who migrated from manual analysis to our QualiSperm solution. Especially when it comes to measurement of high concentrations the QualiSperm solution outperforms any manual analysis. The high accuracy at high concentrations which is mainly due to the advanced image correlation image algorithm reduces the need for diluting the sample, thus minimizing the errors related to sample dilution. When time and turnaround time becomes an issue for the measurements, the QualiSperm solution clearly shows it benefits as it’s the fastest solution currently on the market. This benefit can be easily translated into money and has been the basis for the purchase of a QualiSperm solution for many of our customers who are in a time constraint environment.

4. I would like to have the QualiSperm solution, but do only a few analysis per week and cannot justify the purchase of the solution, what to do?

Biophos understands that drive for quality improvement with only few measurements per week, makes the decision less obvious. Although quality improvement has a clear advantage, the reimbursement or invoicing is often based on the measurement itself. For those customers who do less than 50 measurements per month we offer the QualiSperm licensing solution, where the customer pays a fixed amount per month for the use of the QualiSperm modules up to 50 measurements. The advantage for the customer is that there is no initial investment and the payment of the QualiSperm software license goes hand in hand with the reimbursement or the invoicing for the analysis. 6. Can I purchase modules or do I need to buy the entire solution?

Our solution is based on modules. The basic module is the Concentration Module. In order to have a real advantage over manual analysis most customers have purchased in addition our Motility Module. Depending in which market you are, animal or human, you can purchase on top of the 2 basic modules our Morphology Module for human analysis or the Droplet Recognition Module for the animal market. All our modules have a common end user interface and the service and maintenance prices are based on the modules used by the customer.
